Splunk - Log analyser

Post by parkerc »

Hi

I'm using the syslog server element of my QNAP TS453-Pro more and more, now all the compatible items in my house are reporting there, even subtle changes in my Home Automation set up (temp, motion, light readings etc) are being captured

As it seems to be free for use for home use, is there scope to have Splunk added to the QNAP supported apps?

As I have the intel based processor which option listed above that I could use to make my messages.csv syslog data available and analysed by Splunk?

I would also like to see a splunk qpkg. I have a tvs-463 so I can run a vm with splunk but would prefer not to have the overhead of a VM

Another option might be looking to see if there is an LXC or Docker package for it that could be run in the new Container Station.

got a start of answer why i bugs, seems some ports are used internally on Qnap

Splunk listen on ports 8000, 8089, 9997, 8080 and 514 by default...

I guess the port cannot be bind because already in use

Hi,

I'm not too familiar with Docker, did you find that a straight forward thing to set up via Container Station?

Hi,

anyone managed to run splunk on container station successfully?
I cannot get the image (https://hub.docker.com/r/splunk/splunk) to start...

I'll appreciate any advice.
