Backing up directories

I have just started using Amazon S3 for external backup. It took me ages to get it working but now it works. The problem is that I am using the path Mike/backup as the source to feed to S3, but it only backs up the files in that directory, not the sub-directories and associated files within /backup. What do I need to do to tell the job to do all sub-directories and files within the /backup directory? Many thanks for any help.
