As above. When attaching an external USB HDD enclosure do do an offline backup with a 6TB Drive the NAS slows to a crawl . When I log into the NAS apps take incredible long to load, (even after the devidce has been plugged in for hours). System usage shows minimal RAM & CPU. No notidfications, attached UPS or tasks are showing on the status bar at the top. Frequent "the server is busy' pop ups as well.
This on a TS-451A with RAID 10 4x3TB WD RED drives, and using the back USB 3 ports.
It used to work fine a couple of months ago.
Add to this an irrelevant notice about QTS5 using a new SSD cache and upgrading mine - (which i don't have).
I am connected to the NAS QTS interface through the LAN from the PC via a switch to the NAS, so i cannpot see how the network can be to blame.
Is there a process(Qsirch?) or something that might account for this?
Recently upfared to QTS 5 latest.
regards

I'm facing similar issue now on my TVS682. pretty strange for it to be behaving this way.
NAS becomes unresponsive once the Ext HDD is plugged in.

Have you tried going back to a firmware version you know worked? Could be a device driver issue. Should also log it with QNAP support.
QNAP TS-563-16G 5x10TB Seagate Ironwolf HDD Raid-5 NIC: 2x1GB 1x10GbE
QNAP TS-231P-US 2x18TB Seagate Exos HDD Raid-1

A downgrade is done with same procedure as an update!
Just download the firmware image - if you didnt have one - and use Qfinder or the NAS GUI to install the firmware.
Only thing to do is to confirm the warning message.
Also I do recommend to read the release notes of the current (used) firmware and the release notes of the versions between current and revisions you like to install.
Check, if in any release note a downgrade is excluded!
