Hi all,
I have a TS-412 with old firmware Version 3.5.2 build 1126T. It has been working without any issues for the last 10 years.
Suddenly, i started to have issues logging in. I can login, but right after, the page freezes and Firefox 77.0.1 says "A web page is slowing down your browser. what do you want to do?"
Same thing happens when logging in with different computer and/or different browsers.
I can still see network shares and can still login via ssh.
I saw an article on updating the firmware via ssh but I am afraid to lose everything because of my current firmware is very old.
I just noticed that the STATUS LED is flashing green every 0.5 second, forever. Maybe that's because I have tried the 3 seconds reset?
I am also afraid to perform the 10 seconds reset because if I am still unable to login I will not be able to re-configure my shares.
Any thoughts?
Admin page always freezes after loggin in

I just noticed at the bottom of the page that the section 'QNAP Latest News' is not loading.

Hi,
experiencing the exact same scenario. All okay except can't access admin page - suspect its trying to access a link that no longer works/available.
Sorry no help but just fyi likely its an external change to your system and not the system itself.
cheers

I am also now experiencing the same problem on a TS-469. It appears to hang when awaiting a response from QNAP new pages. Apart from updating the firmware does anyone have a workaround for this.

The link to viewtopic.php?f=25&t=155240 contains an answer that works for me. Unexpectedly to me, you need to be logged in to see it. So for the benefit of anyone else, the key is that a news update file at forum.qnap.com is no longer available, and things hang trying to handle it. The key bit from that thread:
mkmorris wrote: Create a blank file at /mnt/HDA_ROOT/.config/rssdoc/newsrss_eng.xml.blank
Edit /mnt/ext/home/httpd/cgi-bin/html/home.js and search for newsrss and change the file it reads to .blank (or get rid of it altogether)
Edit /mnt/ext/home/httpd/cgi-bin/html/home.html and add a <!-- --> around the last div for the QNAP News (see below)
The news still tries to load, but it doesn't crash out! The 'Old" file and new file continue to populate from index.cgi, but its no longer loading.
Code: Select all
<!-- <div style="clear:both;padding-right:10px;float:right;" align="right"> <a href="http://forum.qnap.com/rss/news_eng.xml" target="_blank" style="position:relative;top:25px;*top:30px;"><img src="/ajax_obj/images/rss_16.gif" border="0"></a> </div> <div class="ac_title"> <a><span name='WIZ_DESC7' class='qnapstr'></span></a> </div> <div class='h_content qnapnews'><div style='display: inline-block; padding-left: 20px; font-size: 14px; font-family: Trebuchet MS,Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #7F7F7F;'><span class="qnapstr" name="LOADING"></span>   <img src="/ajax_obj/img/running.gif"/></div></div> </div> --> <span id="DemoSiteSuppurt" style="display:none"></span> </div>
