QuFirewall geolocation issues

Post by Murphy85 »

I activated the QuFirewall 1.2.0 and only allowed connections from Germany.

Yesterday there were a lot of login attempts from other countries like south korea and china. Why are these attackers not blocked by firewall? I've checked the IP addresses in maxmind database

After switching from Basic protection to Subnets only, the login attempts are blocked, but I cannot use my media server from outside my network.

Is there an issue with geolocation in QuFirewall? Geo IP database version is up to date (20201230)

It may sound funny, but did you try to deactivate QuFirewall and then turn it back on?
Just today, I was experimenting with setting permissions for several countries, and I didn't have access. After I turned QuFirewall on/off, it started working

I restarted the whole NAS :-D Today I switched back to Basic protection including all access from Germany. I will wait if there are any more login attempts from Asia

If you use a VPN (eg PureVPN, NordVPN, etc.), then you can easily test access yourself, just switch the country location and perform an access ;)
