Hi
A 'faulty' disk has caused me production issues and I would like to try and avoid a repeat of this by the introduction of monitoring if possible.
The QNAP model is TS-870U-RP.
Details of the issue.
Green LED on drive.
Array status not degraded.
No entries in System Logs.
Disk marked red as threshold of S.M.A.R.T. sector errors exceeded.
Performance degraded causing production issues.
Performance recovered immediately the disk was replaced.
What I would be interested in is what other people have used to successfully monitor disk status.
Also, would monitoring have helped in this case as the disk seemed not to have 'failed'?
Any help appreciated.
Mike
