Error accessing S3 compatible with Duplicati

Post by piricullo »

Hello,
I installed and configured Object Storage Server as S3 compatible.
I configured on my PC Duplicati with a small test backup and everything seemed to work properly (apart from the fact that I had to indicate the flag s3-ext-signatureversion 2 as probably Qnap has not updated Object Storage Server and does not accept version 4).
But when I increased the size of the backup Duplicati reports an error that fails to recover the files correctly.
I posted the error on Duplicati's forum, but without success.
So I loaded the Minio docker onto my Qnap (TS-251) and so Duplicati works properly.
What could be the problem?
Thanks in advance
Enzo

I just got this working in Duplicati 2.0.4.23_beta_2019-07-14 and QTS 4.4.1.1081 on a TS-453be.

I needed to set the following advanced options:
  • s3-ext-forcepathstyle = true
  • s3-ext-signatureversion = 2
The bucket-name in Duplicati corresponds to the container within the storage account. The storage account is designated in the first part of the username, e.g.

Code: Select all

storageaccount:0xKEYID

Everything's been fine for a couple of months, but I found a few days ago that Object Storage Server failed shortly after I posted that post. It seems to lock-up every now and then. I'm keeping my eye on it.

Object Storage Server seems to not have been updated since November 2017. It is apparently no longer available in the App Store, but it came preinstalled on my TS-453be. Next time I notice it not working, I'm probably going to switch to Minio, which I ran on my TS-809 Pro for the last few years because it couldn't use Object Storage Server for some reason.
