cifs stopped working

Post by cbad536 »

Hi Team:
I had been backing up two Raspberry Pi 4s to my TS-251D, staring by mounting the drive. Now I get:

Code: Select all

pi@hampi:/bin $ sudo mount -t cifs -o username=pi,password=******** //NAS486FE6.fios-router.home/Backups /media -v
mount.cifs kernel mount options: ip=192.168.1.65,unc=\\NAS486FE6.fios-router.home\Backups,user=pi,pass=********
Unable to find suitable address.
The ip address is correct, so it's resolving the hostname.
From the Pi, I'm able to connect to the NAS with chromium and get the loging prompt.
Leads me to think the new version of NAS firmware doesn't support CIFS, or permissions got changed somewhere I haven't looked.
Thanks

Re: cifs stopped working

Let me ask this: How would I enable/disable cifs on the QNAP server? I can't find a CIFS section under control panel>file services.
This would at least let me check if it's been disabled.

SOLVED cifs stopped working

So I opened a ticket with QNAP and they asked to make sure
Control Panel>File Services> Win/Mac..>Microsoft Networking> Enable file service for Microsoft networking is checked.

It was not checked, so enabling this allows me to mount drive with cifs as before.

Thanks QNAP.
