Files Missing in File Station

Post by Benji98 »

Hi All,

Sorry for the generic subject name just not sure what has exactly gone on.

I have taken over our system for managing the backups & we use a QNAP device for this.
I have setup some automated backups which run every weekend and they get put in our Raid 0 volume area.
I have popped on to the NAS to check & make sure everything is running smoothly today but when I got in, where I would usually see our backups they are no longer visible.

I have checked the storage monitor and it is still registering that the folders/files are there upon closer inspection but I cannot find them anywhere on the system including the Recycle Bin area.

Is there a reason for this? Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading,
Ben

It's not said clearly: Are the backups made in a volume of the same NAS?

Backup in a RAID 0? Really?

Thanks for replying ritters.

Sorry just double checked its not Raid 0 its Raid 1 still not used to all the different types of raid that there are.

The backup system goes like this:
Windows Server -> Software4All -> NAS

The Backup is stored on the NAS & usually appears under its name as a mounted volume but the only thing visible is the station files area which is an area we don't use.

Hope this helps.

Software4all is the package we use to facilitate the copying of files from one place to another on a repeated basis.
This was in place before I joined.

And you are sure program does not have an issue with silently dropping files?

Yep the program has been working fine with the QNAP For the last 2 years with no issues. So can't be this.
Any Ideas?

Check via SMB instead of file station and/or make sure you use the admin user and no other replacment one

Hi Again, I have had a look through Putty at the volume directories and all folders are still there. But just can't see them in File Station. I have also checked the filter just in case and that is cleared as I saw that mentioned in another post. So filtering isn't the issue.

Hi Yes Admin is the only account I use on the NAS. I used it for the SSH & the Physical Login.

so if

you use the admin user
files are visible in the shares via smb
files are not visible in the shares via filestation

then a ticket with qnap is probably best
