showmount not working

Post by brbaker »

Hi,
I have an HS-251+ NAS.
I am having issues mounting the share drives using NFS on both Ubuntu and RaspberryPi. I keep getting connection refused messages.
I think there is something fundamentally wrong as when I run showmount I receive a connection refused error:
bryon@ubuntu:~$ showmount -e 192.168.10.200
clnt_create: RPC: Port mapper failure - Unable to receive: errno 111 (Connection refused)
I have run the following in ubuntu:
sudo service rpcbind start
I have checked in the NAS and NFS is enabled for Public. Under Shared Folder Permissions, Public has an NFS Host Access permission of: *(rw,no_root_squash)

Why does the QNAP not return the list of available mounts?

Thanks

Bryon

It is the latest firmware: 4.2.2 (2016/12/14)
Just rechecked - no update is available.

And (just for completeness) you enabled the NFS service on the NAS? ;)

Well I *think* I did.
I have looked in Network Services > Win/Max/NFS and I cannot see anything specific to NFS.
Here is a link to the screen shots: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7LD9 ... 01tNTBZQVE

Best I could do from my iPhone.

Scroll down through this tutorial and there's a section on how to enable the NFS service:

Rats. That is not the first time I have missed the subtle menu item under the icons.
It was not enabled. I have enabled; will check if it works in a couple of hours.

Problem solved.
I am visually impaired. Unlike the screen shot in the document you sent, new UI for QNAP has these subtle little Menu Bar-like selections for Microsoft Networking, Apple Networking, and NFS Service. I looked at that screen over a dozen times and missed them.
Thanks, it works just great now.
