How to configure NFS mount and mapping users

Post by Paolopost »

I have a Qnap TS-453BU with QTS 4.3.4.
I successfully configured a NFS share and I mounted it from Ubuntu 16.04.
Nevertheless I didn't find how to configure the mapping of the users between client (Ubuntu) and server (Qnap).
Browsing the forum I have captured that NFS version 4 is not fully/officially supported.
A similar request was recently posted on this forum but no one provided an answer.
What is the proper configuration of NFS service to enable the mapping of users between client and server?
A working solution for Ubuntu would be recommended.

Open yet another new thread won't change this, too. NFS (including v4) is on the way out ... Kerberizsed NFSv4 would be great, ... regardless, the relevance is almost zero. Thus nobody really cares.
