Hi, i think the problem resolved over the weekend.
I'm now using the latest firmware in the 409 and the tvix (set to gigabit) and the perfomance is much better..
now if i just could get rtorrent to work im as happy as could be with the 409-Pro!

Can you let me know yur firmware version?
And is it set up in the 10/100 & Gigabit mixed environment?
Yep, very happy with it now, great product that works like it should with the tvix 6500a, could use a more quiet fan though (for livingroom use).
Well its my understanding that rtorrent can't be installed on the 409 yet, only the 109-209, or has it been fixed? if so can someone point me in the direction to how?

One of the differences between pro and non-pro is NFS support.
Pro has additional support for NFS and AD.
non-Pro doesn't.

NO, RAID is NOT backup - Use RAID-Certified 24x7 drives for raid HOWTO's:
Make automatic backup of ALL MySQL databases http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=15628 NAS-659 Pro II (3 GB Ram), Raid1, Survailance station, local backup destination + NAS-853A (16 GB Ram), Virtualization Station, Plex, iDrive

I've installed it on my TS-409.
You need to change the HDA_DATA to MD0_DATA in all the configs if you have raid enabled, other than that it works nicely.

sure, if you still have problem please have you question asked in the relevant thread and keep this thread reflects what it says in the subject, thanks.
I have a TS-409 Pro with firmware Version 2.1.0 build 0624T.
If I connect it to the Gigabit switch, I can't use it with my TVIX 4100-SH. If I connect the Qnap directly to the router ( at 100 MBPS), everything works fine. I have tested carefully, changed cables, etc... The only way to have enough performance to watch something through the NFS share is to have the Qnap NOT connected to a Gigabit port.
qnapfrankie wrote:excuse me, i use Tvix 5100sh and ts-409 connect with GigE cable ,then use
NFS to play the DVD and wm9 movie files is very good, can you tell me more
information about this bug??
@qnapfrankie
I described the bug in my post: it is network performance related, the only missing info might be that I use a Tvix 4100SH with the latest firmware 1.4.52
The symptom: network transfers slow down to a point you can't view anything smoothly, and the NFS folders take forever to show the contents.

Hi We will release a fix for this issue, the fix was for TS-109/209 in the initial post. One question, when you say the problem is back, did you mean it was working all fine before a certain version of firmware?

Hmmm, I can't tell. I don't remember if I was using the 409 with the Tvix prior to the firmware upgrade of late June.
Sorry, maybe someone else can help you on this one...
