I have tried a lot of LMS-containers, but they all fail with "Failed to start container. This image cannot run under ARM NAS".
Anyone know a container that will run under ARM and on a TS-231P?

Running LMS on ARM isn't straight forward, but it is possible if you have some advanced knowledge of how to configure and set things up manually.
I have never tried it myself, but I have seen that others have successfully been able to do this.
Try Google and you will find a lot of useful information, like i.e. this: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthrea ... tes-Tweaks

I have Googled, but as I'm not an advanced user I thought that the container solution was the easiest way. But I have not yet found one that will work under ARM.

You have to build your own image to do that. (Unless someone has already done it - which I haven't seen)....
Perhaps it's time to upgrade to an Intel based QNAP?

I just got the TS-231P, but might turn out to be a bad buy :-(

The low cost ARM based NAS models are just meant for storage purpose which is not very CPU intensive tasks.
If you want more from you server, you should choose one with an INTEL CPU and much more memory.

Thanks for the Instructions. Been waiting to attempt the setup but was bored so gave it a go. Appears to be scanning my 2TB of music so we will see. I think I should have installed my RAM kit before the attempt.

Fantastic! I now run LMS 7.9 on my TS-251. Thank you for the guide!

However, I run into a problem when trying to activate Triodes Spotify plug-in. After enabling the plug-in and restarting the server as the message box says, it seems like the plug-in didn't enable at all. Trying to disable an Active plug-in, restart server, nothing changed.

Has anyone managed to get Spotify running?

Which image are you using for LMS?
What version of CS?
Are you running the image in Host mode or NAT mode?
Did you correctly configure the repository for the Plug-in?
Is the Plug in listed among the active ones?
Have you tried contacting the author of the PlugIn?
Are you getting any error messages?
What does the log say?

In order for anyone to help, you need to provide as much info as possible about your setup.

Which image are you using for LMS?

- justifiably/logitechmediaserver:latest

What version of CS?

- 1.7.2415

Are you running the image in Host mode or NAT mode?

- Host

Did you correctly configure the repository for the Plug-in?

- I haven't configured any repository at all

Is the Plug in listed among the active ones?

- Nope, initially it's listed under 3rd party plugins.

Have you tried contacting the author of the PlugIn?

- Nope

Are you getting any error messages?

- Nope

What does the log say?

- A lots of rows with

"[17-06-20 21:19:47.0058] Slim::Utils::Prefs::Namespace::savenow (338) Error: can't save /mnt/state/prefs/plugin/datetime.prefs: Permission denied at /usr/e/perl5/Slim/Utils/Prefs/Namespace.pm line 327."

I suspect a directory configuration or permission is behind this.

I later noticed that none of the settings are actually saved. If I switch squeezebox display time format in LMS from hh.mm 12 hours to hh:mm 24 hours and hit save the change can be seen on the squeezebox display. But when I refresh the settings web page all settings are default. And the log gets 12 new rows like the row above.

Please help

Indeed it looks like a permission issue. Did you point your /mnt/state to an existing share using a Mount Point?
In my case, I pointed /mnt/state to /Share/Public/LMS-Temp/state which was set up with read/write permissions for the container user-account.

Regarding the Plug-in, you may not need a repository for it. some do, some don't. But in any case it has to be activated (ticked) and should then automatically move up into the active group when you press 'save'. But if the state cannot be saved, then perhaps this fails....?

Hi, you wrote:

Can you please describe how you accomplish this by explaining which fields to enter what in? I'm a newbie to linux and KVM and folder/share permissions.

I'm just so impressed with how easy it was to set this up.

Thank you!

This is what I mean:

Image

But you might have to re-install your image into container station in order to modify these mappings.
These share paths seen above is what I choose on my NAS. You may have a totally different folder structure. What's important is that you use shares that exist and that have the correct access privileges.
The easiest way is if you log on as administrator and create the shares as admin (using File Station) since that will automatically apply admin rights to them.
But if you have a user based set-up, then you must take that into account in your planning.

Thank you very much for your help! The missing /mnt/state mapping was the reason for settings not saving and for plugins not to enable.

Now I run perfectly with Spotify plugin working.

It takes 15 seconds to set this up, and it actually feels like LMS is faster now with 7.9 in Docker than 7.7.2 natively install.

Thank you again!

Hello,

I tried to follow post n.1 instructions on a TS-251, but got this error:

[17-08-16 13:14:02.0012] Slim::Utils::Prefs::Namespace::savenow (338) Error: can't save /mnt/state/prefs/plugin/fulltext.prefs: Permission denied at /usr/sha
re/perl5/Slim/Utils/Prefs/Namespace.pm line 327.

and application was stopped.

Any help?
