Constellation ES3 Firmware Update SN03 to SN07

Post by GunMetalBlue »

I'm in need of replacing a drive in my 410, and have a ST1000NM0033 that needs to have the firmware updated to SN04 to meet the requirement on QNAP's compatibility page. Surely the firmware update should be addressed by Seagate, but their support page is a little "subpar" on this issue. I have followed the instructions as close as I could (I am a little Linux illiterate) and managed to create a bootable UBS drive with Seagate's firmware utility, booting the computer with the constellation attached, which gave the following result in the attachment. My problem is that after booting the computer, the utility fails to update the firmware on the drive. Any suggestions or comments would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,

I would ask that question in a seagate forum

After a little digging I found some useful information in the link below. After following the detailed instructions, I was able to get a successful firmware upgrade. After the firmware upgrade, I reran Seagate's Seatools, WDC Data Lifeguard, and Crystal Disk Info, with no errors. I'll wait for a drive failure to try it in the NAS, but I'm pretty certain that it'll be ok.

*edit* never mind the 410 does not have any video out or supported CPU architecture

Roger that. I've had it for a long time. I've been wanting a 471 but fundage is kind of short these days, unless the 410 magically dies. It doesn't see much load, other than being a file server, but it is occasionally used for it's download station and miscellaneous things like syslog server, DDNS service and Backup Station.
