Anyone running 10TB IronWolf NAS drives in their TS-253 Pro?
I am planning to install two of them for a grand total of 20TB.
By 2020 I am hoping to upgrade to 40TB when 20TB drives becomes available.

running them in RAID0 ? .. I wouldn't... one blip and you have to start from scratch ... also 20TB need a good backup strategy (so do 10TB)
and there is no upgrade path for RAID0, with RAID1 you can swap the drives for larger ones and expand

It will be used primarily for Download Station to torrent 4K videos and serve them within the network to up to 2 concurrent users.
Other than that it will also record IP camera output for home.
Both content arent that valuable, meaning it can easily be replicated given a week.
IP camera will be for instances when a home intrusion happens.

And so much time on your hands (to restore the NAS and settings on drive failures)...Trexx wrote:

I can certainly understand that on a two drive machine the 50% decreased storage capacity is not acceptable for everyone. But what I don't understand is your use of RAID0. At least make it two single static drives then. You still have 2x 10TB storage capacity but If one of your drives fails at least you still have the data on the other drive. Which is not the case with RAID0, then you have lost everything.
