Hi All,

I have TS-879U-RP (Version 3.8.4 (2013/08/16)) and trying to backup some folders but NAS not recognised this external drive.?

I'm guessing that you have checked that the drive has a compatible file system, and that you have permission to access it.

Also your firmware is quite old - I suspect that not many forum members still use it and can provide support.

There have been a lot of changes in QNAP's NAS firmware with regard to attached USB drives. I think you need to seriously look at updating your NAS firmware. You'll then benefit from the numerous bug and security fixes.

I can't say for sure, so I suggest you create a support ticket with QNAP and confirm the correct upgrade path.
