I'm looking to replace my 5 WD Red NAS 4TB drives with 5 Seagate 8TB drives (ST8000DM004).
These Seagate drives are NOT listed as "NAS" but I think a drive that rotates slower at 5400 RPM would actually be a better candidate for NAS units (lower rotation = less heat and less power load). The bottle neck is going to be my CAT6 1G anyway ... it's a RAID 5 configuration.
Thoughts?
Cheers, Rob.

ST..DM desktop drives are not meant for NAS..they have a long history of premature failires
Stick to NAS drives
