Hello,
Can I use two Seagate Exos X18 18TB HDDs
In my QNAP TS-451?
This NAS has an Intel CPU , 4 bays and I have upgraded it, to use 8GB RAM.
I hope I can use those large Seagates.
Is there a minimum OS version I have to upgrade to, to be able to use those discs?
The alternative to the Seagates would be 2 WD RED pro 16TB...
But I would prefer the Seagates...

should work fine..watch your inode size so you can easily expand after

FWIW, I'm running 2 x 18TB EXOS in my old TS-231P without any noticable issues.

Re: TS-451 with 2xSeagate Exos X18 18TB ?
Currently I have 2x 6TB HDDs as RAID1 installed in the first 2 bays.
I have 1 static single volume running on that raid.
This volume uses 65KBytes/inode, according to the volume info...
So 250TB / volume should be ok, I think.
The plan is, to replace both discs, one by one,
With the built in disc replacement function (After doing a new backup to a USB disc first).
I am currently running QTS 4.3.6
Will / can the inode sitze be adjusted during that process, so that in the end, I have 1 static 18TB volume?

Inode size is fixed unitil a volume is rebuild from scratch..but if your chosen size supports 250TB, then no need to worry. Otherwise the plan sounds good

Thanks for the answers!
So I will go for the 18TB Seagates.
I will also stay with my current firmware version 4.3.6 , since this one ist stable for a long time already...

All worked fine with the two 18TB Exos discs that replaced two old 6TB HDDs in my TS-451.
I have now 16,3TB available in my RAID1 volume.
