HGST 76k any feelings on their new discs?

Post by bapw@comcast.net »

I am looking into getting probably the x77 and trying to decide about hard drives. Last week HGST just announced a new drive and wondering if anyone has any thoughts on it. The HGST 76K is supposed to be 12% faster than the 7k6000 and have one less drve. Comes out in 6 and 4tb. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.

What is your use case? 12% faster won’t matter when a 1GbE connection is most people’s bottleneck. So i would say it will depend on use case/config.

As for HGST drives in general, I have been very happy with mine and they have been reliable for me.
