Drive in Abnornal status on Qnap.

Post by pantherservicesus »

I bought 4 Western Digital drives.

All are working fine except one, Qnap is always not reading it and giving me Abnormal Error.
In the SMART info, its giving all Good except the ID 22 (unknown_attribute >> RAW value = 100)

However if I put on my Windows PC, it runs normally I can even scan it with checkdisk with no errors.

I'm in a different country from where I bought this drives so it's not possible to use my warranty.

Any idea how to solve this error?

Thank you

what model of hdd exactly? is it wd red?

This is an example
WD Red 4TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6 GB/S 64 MB Cache 3.5-Inch - WD40EFRX

*include the color coded code of the hdd you are using.

in qts you can also run bad block scan also smart test.

WD diagnostic tool here (did you use that?)

Thanks for the info.
Yes the WD is RED 8 TB
Data Lifeguard is now giving a FAIL error.
I guess I'll have to contact WD for the closest warranty retailer.

I have had to send my WD Reds back to to Vietnam for warranty, so no doubt this will be the same for yourself if you can't get the place of purchase to exchange them under your consumer laws in your state/country. O am located in Australia and my original place of purchase has gone bankrupt now making me a creditor from postage costs. Funny enough I did warn the place of purchase that if they didn't change their ways and attitudes they would be out of business sooner than later, sooner came first... they were gone within eight months of my warning, leaving behind a considerable debt over one million dollars AUS$.

The owner should be jailed for his actions and leaving so many people with unpaid invoices. Mongrels.
