WD Red 10 TB Variant

Post by BH9244 »

Shopping for drives and have been looking at the WD Red 10TB.

There appears to be two versions the WD100EFRX and WD101EFX.

Looking at the specs they appear the same, anyone know what the difference is ?

Thanks

You are correct I gave the wrong model number, and thanks for the link explained it perfectly.

Reading the spec sheet of WD, see https://documents.westerndigital.com/co ... ed-hdd.pdf. The new 101 is slower, makes more noise, uses more power and can stand less shock. And apparently runs hotter reading that reddit post. And that all for a theoretical 5MB/s throughput gain.... WD doesn't give s..t about the Red brand anymore it seems. I would get the old WD100EFAX one instead of the 101EFAX if you still can.

PS Good WD specify the recording technology now in their specs.

I’ve read somewhere that it could be helium vs air. The 101 is air.
