Plex Web front end cannot access server!

Post by zxlife »

I've got Plex Media Server installed on my QNAP TS-421 and can access the client interface via local area network on:
http://phoebe:32400/web/index.html#

I need to add libraries as there is no content showing up. However:
  • When I click Add Library > Movies (or any other library type):
    • the Language drop down has 0 entries in it
    • after entering a library name and clicking Next, the Browse for Media folder button shows no folders in the list
  • Clicking the Settings icon and then Server tab, I get a wait icon for about 30 seconds and then a single message saying "Server settings are unavailable."
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Try connecting via IP instead of hostname. I had no end of trouble trying to get plex set up like you and it all eventually worked when accessing via IP.

I think Plex was thinking I was outside my LAN when connecting via hostname.

Well I've come back to it after seeing your post and accessing via IP address (http://192.168.8.13:32400/web/index.html) is now showing the folder listing.
However, so is http://phoebe:32400/web/index.html !!!!!

No idea why after this long, it has started to list the directories but it appears to be working now.
HDD thrashing appears to have cooled too (well, except for the fact that Plex is now indexing my Movies folder)
Thanks for your help.
