QNAP NAS Community Forum

Hi All,

Recently I purchased TVS-1282T3 QNAP NAS. There are 4 x 16TB Seagate Exos HDD.

My purpose of this NAS is to use it as Media Server (40%) as well as to store my business documents (60%).

Issue is when I am not doing anything on this NAS, still it is not going to Standby Mode.

After reading several blog posts, I checked stopping Emby/Plex media servers and I can see that the NAS is now going to standby mode.

So looks like Emby/Plex is creating issues for me here.

Is there any work around where I can still keep Emby/Plex servers on and my NAS would go to Standby Mode during period when I am not doing anything on NAS.

Hi,

I'm setting up my Plex-Server at the moment. There are some options to limit background operations to a specific time frame. Could your Plex-Server be doing some of those and so preventing standby?

The actions would be for example:
- (re) reading new metadata
- generating thumbnails
- optimizing video-versions
- etc.
