How can I access the Plex folder on the NAS?

Hi,
I'm migrating from Kodi to Plex and I have my Watched List from Kodi which I think can maybe be imported to Plex since they both use an SQL database to store that information.
I found instructions on how to import a Watch List (called Viewstate in Plex) file (.db) but it requires having access to the Kodi install folder which...I have no idea how to access on a QNAP NAS??
There is no visible system folder on QNAP NAS so...is it possible to do?
Thanks,

That depends on how you've installed Plex and Kodi on your NAS? For the following steps I'll assume you installed both as qpkg.

Those apps are stored on your (first / system) Volume, that is usually named something like CACHEDEV1_DATA. The apps are stored in a directory .qpkg within that volume. So for Plex it's then (see photo):

/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/

You can create a share from control panel and point it to that directory in advanced settings. So you can easily access it and drop any files there.
I assume within the .qpkg folder you'll find your Kodi installation. I can not check this, as I never used it on the QNAP.

There is also a longer thread about this on the plex forum here: https://forums.plex.tv/t/create-a-share ... ory/160211

You will find a link to this (https://github.com/ukdtom/PMSLibShare/releases/latest) QNAP-App, which will just create that share for you.

But...how do you see those folders? If I go to my NAS from Windows Explorer, I can't see any of that and neither from the QNAP File Station? That really was the essence of my question, not so much where it is but how to see it (as I imagine if it where visible to me, a simple search for the word 'Plex' would find the relevant files & folders) ?
It's probably because it's a Linux OS running the NAS that I can't see it in Windows but is there a way to see it from QTS?

You generally can't... you either have to use something like CyberDuck to SFTP to the NAS, or Putty via SSH.

You aren't going to be able to see those locations via Windows Explorer.

That's why I posted the link to a small qpkg app, that will create the share for you. With this share you can access the library via file station or Windows explorer.

Thx! That worked beautifully!!
Now, I need to figure out how to import the Kodi Watched List...not an easy task it seems.
Cheers,

Complicated? It's a fairly straight forward and basic NAS operation to execute.

1. Login to QTS
2. Launch the Control Panel app
3. Select Shared Folder
4. Create a new share, name it whatever, select Enter path manually and make the path /
5. Select whatever other options you want in the create folder menu and then create the shared folder
6. Mount the new SMB share and you're all set.

Plex logs are now accessible via the plex share

the lack of digital signature can be ignored

Head over to the plex forums, whatsoever you are trying to do, someone else has already done, and there are plenty of QNAP related plex threads there.

Using a 5 year old qpkg on a current day plex install is not the smartest idea. The plex architecture has changed somewhat over the past five years and a 5 year old 3rd party QPKG could end up causing more problems than it solves.

If the PlexData share does not already exist on your NAS, then create one, it takes less than a minute to create the share.

The Plex-qpkg is doing this itself awhile now.

I have an old TS-431 and the QNAP Plex-qpkg does not create a visible Plex Folder
I used the PMSLibShare-qkpg and that does not allow me i access.
I delete Plex, ran PMSLibshare again after a restart and I cannot link to my Movies shared folder using the Plex Library function.
I am now attempting to copy the Plex folder from another QNAP to see if that will work.
