Plex stopped working

Post by cejones »

I was uninstalling unused Apps off my Qnap today and somehow broke my Plex server. I do not use any of the Qnap apps so I uninstalled CodexPack

Well, that apparently broke all the links that my Plex server used to point to my media. Plex server was running, but when I tried to play anything, it failed with an error stating the media was not on disk.

I went through each library and changed the location to /share/ShareName/ from the previous location was contained CodexPack in the name. I do like the more succinct path...

But, after doing this, I restarted the Plex server and while Qnap thinks it is up and running with no startup errors, when I try to go to the IP address of the Plex server, it just spins and never connects.

Any advice is appreciated. (I know, I screwed it up)

Family is in revolt.

Thanks. That is why I uninstalled Codex pack, thinking it was unnecessary. I'll try removing and reinstalling Plex.
Thank you.

Plex is no longer working.
Have uninstalled and reinstall, still no joy.
Had problems a few months back with folders but managed to sort that but not using the multimedia directory for data.
Now I cant add anything new to what used to be a working directory.
now PLEX can not see qnap......
All the best

Never do that. It will destroy your metadata, including all manual corrections and index of viewed media.

Plex support must always be requested in the Plex forum.

Might be a good question for the Plex forum.

They might be able to help with aid of error logs etc.

@moody_blue ... where did OP say that all this data MUST stay intact ? ..metadata/thumbnails/etc can be rebuild ...

but not viewing history, nor manual corrections, which are often necessary due to the fact that Plex builds metadata from sources that have errors or missing data.
