pagination (browsing pages for the content) is sufficient
Image

you click the arrow keys for browsing.

if you want to skip a few pages ahead, you can type in manually the page number.

in terms of functionality for browsing pages of content, it seems sufficiently.

personally i would prefer an additional option, which is infinite scrolling method. but to do that, they would need to make the content a separate inline window from the right side panel (which also needs to be scrolled to view the entirety of it).

then if you scroll within the content window, and you reach the very bottom, it would then auto load the next page of results.

Yes clicking the next page is fine. But quite often when you are viewing content for that page, you would view everything, and rather than clicking the next page, you would scroll down and it would load next page instead. It's quite convenient if it had that.

As for skipping many pages, there is only typing the page number for a fast skip. Some UI designs they would have a preset of multiple page numbers e.g.

Code: Select all

<previous> 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 <next>
so you don't have to press next too many times, and you can skip pages at a click much easier.

that said, i'm okay with the current pagination in it's lean form as it's still very usable :)

another bug or oddity discovered.

The explore your NAS, where it shows the colored bars with % showing how much of the media type is occupying your NAS.

Yes i have 24,615 files with a 54.71% of files being of music VS 12683 files for videos with a 28.19%

But when you check it properly, i see the disk space used by music is only 498gb vs videos 5.9tb

So to me, knowing the disk space utilization is more important than the number of files for this colored bar distribution.

fine, show number of available files, but i rather that the colored bar with % reflect disk space usage instead, which is more meaningful to me as to what has to go if i end up having to downsize content to make space.

Afaik, knowing the number of files is important for knowing what to set your QNAP NAS configuration during the reinitialization. Because one of the settings is dependent on how many folders and files you expect to have on your system, so you adjust that setting accordingly. "bytes per inode" for file system option

I limited Qsirch to 80.000 files but it is still very slow (>3s). It's definitely not an ES problem, `wget -q -O - 'http://127.0.0.1:5028/qusion/_search?q=images&pretty'´ takes <10ms. So even with a new ES version one needs to improve Qsirch to perform much faster.

Number of indexed files: 'wget -q -O - http://127.0.0.1:5028/_cat/indices/qusion?v' (or 'wget -q -O - http://127.0.0.1:5028/_cat/indices?v' for all indexes). Anyhow I do not care about the number of indexed files.
To get the used size by file type https://windirstat.net/ from 2007 is still very good.

i mostly check whats happening on the surface. i don't know what the heck is going on beneath the bonnet so to speak, since i'm not a technical advance user to troubleshoot that :(

I'm having a play with Qsirch for the first time on my TS-451 with 8GB RAM and 4x10tb Raid-5.
I've excluding some big areas I don't need indexed, like movies and music.
It's been indexing for about a week and is almost finished. I do have a couple million photos.
A few questions...
- Where does Qsirch store the indexed information? Please tell me it's not as metadata in the file itself? I'd like confirmation that it does not alter the original fie in any way whatsoever....I'm assuming it creates a database...?
- Assuming in a database.... what is the database location, and/or how can I find out how much space this database is using on disk?
Thanks.
