HS 251 memory upgrade

Post by victronicd »

I have a QNAP251 which has 1 GB ram soldered on the system board :-(

How can I upgrade the amount of RAM?

Is there a possibility by usb memory stick ?

Can I send my qnap to the factory to solder another memory chip on the sytem board ?

Is there another service centre our technician who can do this memory chip replacement jobin Europe ??

Anyone some clues or experience ?

thanks,

It is a pity :-(

I often have memory problems due to the fact that my qnap hs 251 only has 1 GB Ram.
I use Kodi 14 to avoid those ram problems, but still has some issues of performance. My qnap is very slow ...

What do you recommend to avoid those lack of memory problems?

I use my qnap for backups and to watch some video and photos.
I use Kodi in hybrid deskstation to watch my movies and series. Should I use another application as alternative (less ram usage ??) like plexmedia server, or video station ??

Is there another solution to upgrade the memory capacity (usb memory stick ??)

kind regards,
Vic

Why is it slow?

I still have mine and it works perfect even with 1GB. Plex works great even with remote access.
