I find it really weird the they STILL SELL and support the 451+ with this insane lpc bug. No recall, no hardware mitigation?

What if I buy it now?

Then it might fail ...after the warranty is over of course.

The x51(+) and x53 is getting old anyways .. so unless you get it for a bargain you (or other customers) might want to look at newer models

I believe the LPC bug was due to manufacturing issue back in 2016/2017 ish, it was corrected, so newer and older models are not likely infected.

Yeah, that's really too bad as it would be perfect for me otherwise - and I can get it for a bargain price. But I can't have an older NAS that's known to die after a while.

Any solution to this? It just happened to me, can’t say I am happy if it was a known hardware issue abs they will not cover a fix

This has just happened to my QNAP TS-453 Pro I have no previous experience of soldering or messing with capacitors or the like. Will this be an easy fix for someone like me?

Yes, and if you had read through it .. you would have also seen that dupont wires can fix it without any soldering at all

Another TS453 Pro failure here - QNAP wanted $320 for a warranty repair. It was 6 years old so will replace anyway.

However thanks to this thread and the contributors it is working again and only cost £4.49 plus I still have 99 resistors left :DD .

Thank you :)

Same here $320 US for repair, yeah no. Soldered a 100 ohm resistor between pins 1 and 10 and back in business...just need to decide if to get a new QNAP or better luck with Synology.

Fitted a 97 Ohm resistor to the LPC pads / port pads 1 and 10 and now back up working, will be interesting to see how long this works for. 1 pence fix and enjoyed taking the unit apart and rebiulding, lots of screws and none left over afterwards. BTW to add the resistor only case lid needs removing, hope this works for you also. Update 1 hour after the fix, unit booting again and updated to the latest firmware, got a new email from the unit warning the fan was not working. This message preceeded the unit going into the endless "System booting" mode, also getting lots of beeps, so time to make a backup while the unit is booted. For my system adding the resistor has the unit booting but is no longer stable.
