OK I'm in disk management and found the drive it's 16384 GB with no drive letter. Should I give it a drive letter then format it?
It's status is GPT Protective Partition.

OK, after watching a YouTube Video I learned a much better way to reset.
NAS QTS Control Panel / Backup / Restore
Change folder to reinitialize to factory defaults selected the third option to reset to factory and I just went through the complete process that I did from the beginning and got to set my Static IP and my user name and passwords and saved all to Nordpass
So I'm back to square one again.

OK I've reinitialized the QNAP NAS created one storage pool and one volume then installed the QNAP apps I then went and created my shared folder.
I thought my next step was to go to my PC file explorer and start the "Map Network Drive"
I enter \\192.168.1.xxx\NAS (Static IP) it then comes back wanting me to enter me credentials; however, the ID (which isn't changeable) comes back with an old ID from my first time I tried this. and my password that I've changed won't work with the wrong ID
What is still wrong?
I went through the whole process and never had a place to enter that old ID.
It's like my credentials are wrong.

I have no idea what a turtle is

just format all drives externally from the NAS with a usb drive dock/adapter (or directly via sata if not other way is on hand)

ok seen the new posts after..let me see

clean your windows credential storage if your credentials have been saved and are now different

Now I need to learn how to setup my PLEX because when it comes to port forwarding I'm at a loss.

Port forwarding would be done at router level.

While Plex is more secure (hopefully) than QNAP native services, you do not have to port forward at all, for free users (1Mbit) and Plexpass users (2Mbit), relay tunneling is free (albeit limited in bandwidth)
https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766 ... ugh-relay/

If the Plex server is only accessed from inside your own premise, remote access is completely unimportant anyways

Well now that I've finally got my PLEX directory set up I did plan on sharing with my three children and a girl friend.
I have never shared in the past but would like to do it now if I can protect it.

First time I rebooted my PC my shared folder disapeared.

Post by ClareV »

Needed to reboot my system. I've already transferred about 6TB of PLEX media onto my PLEX server but now after rebooting my shared folder is gone. Might have something to do with SMTP (not sure of exact letters but close to this) Don't know what SMPT is (maybe something to do with email) not sure why I'd want anything to do with email on my PLEX server. I've tried to reboot several times and hope it would mysteriously go away. Nope it's gone and I don't know why. I did select a static IP address. 192.168.1.xax
Not sure where to begin trouble shooting this.
