tldr; basically they updated the controller. it now uses half the power consumption which is always nice.

if your qnap model does not support m.2 nvme ssd (however seems to be gen3 though https://www.quora.com/Is-it-okay-to-use ... en-3-slots ) , then this is one way to get support while also getting a faster ethernet port to meet your requirement.

but if all you need is just the ethernet port only (you don't need the m.2 ssd support), there is another model that has only that (aka it's cheaper). but i'm not sure if they updated product model with this new controller as well :' something i'd be interested in myself.
