3 simple Smart Home tricks on how to save money on energy on both your electricity and heating bills during the energy crisis. Earth day 2022.

by Paul Hilbert :D

ever taken the time to check how much ur electronics running costs u per annum to run? you should, they add up.

if u can setup ur electronics to sleep or power down when not needed, do it.

something like this could be useful to do some rough calculations on your power consumption

for NAS, by default it uses sleep/spin down. If ur nas usage patterns doesn't constantly spin up(from sleep) too frequently to negate the benefits of this feature, then considering leaving this feature enabled, because it will save electricity and your annual bill.

Not sure why you post this here ..it's well discussed that the spindown feature is not working on QNAP NAS..so no need for clickbait titles..or am I missing something ?

if u can't get it to work properly on qts (i couldn't), i saw some people figured out a solution to this. they replaced the qts on qnap for truenas (or was it unraid that had the working sleep mode? i forget :' ), then they managed to get spindown to work.

but whether u want to go that far just for a working sleep mode/spindown setting enabled, that's another question, but from the looks of it, it seems possible
