After 8 years, my TS-453 Pro reported a fan failure and got stuck on BOOTING>>>>.
Unfortunately the 100 Ohm fix didn't work for me. The clock signal is too weak.
It was worth trying.

Since you have a scope, did you scope it before soldering the resistor? You might be on the other side of the failure, where you need to pull that up to 3.3V. The current connection you have is to pull that clk even lower if yours is on the low side of the clock signal. As described in my initial post, it's better to check that signal first and determine which way to go.

Dear yujungchang ,

Thank for your reply.
Here is the photo of the RAW signal on pin 1 of LPC-CN1 connector.
The CLK is strongly distorted with 1Vpp and 2V offset.
Pulling down the CLK with 100R centers the signal around 3V3/2 but the system is not booting.

It does look really distorted. Since it's high originally, so a pull down looks correct in your case. You might want to experiment with a lower value, like between 95~80 Ohm or even lower (few have tried). The goal is just to bring the clock low enough for the EC/SIO to recognize and the resistor value used is not really a fixed value. By the way, like your ECG monitor project.

Dear yujungchang,

I followed your recommendation and sold a 500R poti so I could adjust the CLK signal offset.
Unfortunately, whatever the position, the NAS does not boot (there no beeps, no video).

P.S. Thanks for your interest in my others projects :)

I think the centered clock one might be where you can start from and gradually lower it down little by little. Make sure the system is completely unplugged / discharged between each value change (like 30s) before you power it back up. I normally remove the RTC battery as well. If that still doesn't work, then sorry you might be out of luck.

Bummer! Now I can not boot from USB. Looks like this disable USB alltogether. My USB Keyboard is not working anymore so can not enter the BIOS to re-enable USB3.0

Where is the BIOS Reset-Switch?
Haha. That is exactly what happened to me. The only way I could revive my TS-651 was to reflash the BIOS using the SPI header on the board. QNAP support declared the device was bricked and advised me to buy a new mainboard by the way.

I documented the procedure in a forum post here.
TS 409 Pro - decommissioned
TS 559 Pro+ - degraded to an iSCSI target, disabled all services
TS 651 + UX 800P 3xRAID5 (as Storage Pool 1), actually RAID50 + 1 Single Drive (test VMs/temp data, QTS apps)

No luck, my TS-453 Pro is definitively dead!
Many thanks yujungchang for your kind help.

Got the same problem, June 15 I got "System Fan 1 Failed". But the 100ohm resistor made it work again.
Its an old QNAP but now I am leaving QNAP, I will go for a simple and cheap WD 2-bay NAS and a cloud based back up.

I think what he was trying to ask is:

If you have started at the beginning of this topic, have you tried all the possible fixes or steps? If you have, which ones, and what did or did not work? You haven't given is any information yet to work with to help you resolve your problem, you have just started that you have the same problem as this topic deals with.
