Oh.

Yeah, I don't think you'll find a list like that. Anywhere.

Wow!! Why not?? Aren't there any known QNAPs that do not have such clock or mosfet problems???

How is it possible that no one did a list of models that do not have such issues due to the lack of having some of those faulty hardware components that end up in causing those issues??

The safe list would be much longer than the unsafe list..just these handful of units with this atom/celeron generation is problematic

Ah, OK!
So I should eventually just avoid any QNAP that uses Atom/Celeron cpus... Right?
Any extra hint on what to look extra that?

Update: well, from the migration-list you linked be last page (https://www.qnap.com/en-us/nas-migration) it looks like that all the compatible models have a Celeron cpu...

Then a question rises naturally: how to move disks in a non-compatible QNAP that doesn't have any Atom/Celeron cpus??

Thank you. Be :)

Thank you.

Units that were released over the last 2 years are not faulty anymore..no matter if celeron ir not.

New 251+ units could be ok if QNAP uses fixed celerons batches in then..but we don't know

Mine was bought over 7+y ago, so I imagine I'm with the faulty guys even if it's not giving signs for now.

So any Qnap models are OK even if the Celeron in them is faulty or not? How is that?? A motherboard fix?

While instead in new 251+ models the only way to have a fixed one is if Qnap would have used a fixed Celeron?

Thank you.

As the actual CPU is problematic, a fixed CPU revision would fix it ...or buying a newer unit e.g. TSx51D, TSx64,etc

afleischer wrote: Sun Aug 07, 2022 9:47 am Another QNAP back from the dead here! I've got a TS-251+ that was failing to boot entirely, and the LPC-CN1 pins were underneath the metal frame that the hard drive chassis attaches to. I had to remove the hard drive chassis and then remove the circuit board from the frame to be able to access the pins easily. Then I just soldered a 100 Ohm resistor to pin 1 and pin 8, put everything back together, and the NAS is now running normally! Worth noting: there was no pin 10 on this board, just an empty socket, so I'm guessing that's the default for this board. Backing up now, and we'll see how much extra life this fix manages to eke out of my QNAP.
Well, it turns out the fix gave me about 3 weeks of functionality before the NAS failed to boot again. I'm going to try using a 150 Ohm resistor instead of the 100 Ohm one I originally used to see if that brings it back again, because of course I didn't back up the drives when it came back from the dead. I figured the follow-up would be useful for anyone wondering what the minimum amount of NAS lifetime might be after resurrection.
An update to the update: I de-soldered the 100 ohm resistor and soldered on a 150 ohm resistor, but unfortunately when I booted up the NAS, it didn't go through the booting process and give the startup beep. I got solid red lights for both of the hard drives and a blinking LAN light, no status light. I tried booting with no drives and just the first drive, and nothing changed. It looks like I'll be investing in a new NAS.

It looks like I have the same problem with my TS-451. I received a fan-failure notification and when I checked the TS-451, there were fan and drive noises, but no front panel lights other than the LAN LED. No access (timeout) via the web interface. I did a reboot via the power button, but the results were the same. Next, I powered off and disconnected and re-connected the power supply. Upon power-up I got 3 red and 1 green LED for the drives, the LAN LED, the blue USB LED, no status LED and no web access.

I'll try the suggested steps, but it looks like my unit is dead.
Model TS-451, Firmware 5.0.1.2277, build 2023/01/12, 8GB RAM, Win11/64 Pro 21H2 (English)
"100 Ohm Resistor Repair" applied Oct. 13, 2022
Four WD30EFRX Reds (RAID5), Single port networking
Netgear router DD-WRT / EdgeRouter-X

Update: I applied the 100 Ohm repair a few days ago, and my TS-451 is working again. I know this is not a permanent fix, so I'm in the process of copying my data files from the QNAP to a newer Synology. Once the transfer is complete, I'll retire the TS-451. Thank you for the repair tip!

Even on the new Syno..make sure you have backups at all times..a RAID (of any sort) is not a backup

"I know this is not a permanent fix"
Why have you concluded that? I've not read any evidence that suggests the "fix" is not permanent.

Had similar behavior when he died.

Received an email saying system fan 1 has died.
Tried to connected nothing was responding.
Status light off, Lan blinking yellow USB blue because I had connected an UPS and one Hdd light green one red.

The 100 OHM solution worked.
TS 251+ working again.
