QNAP TS-453 Pro stuck on "SYSTEM BOOTING"

Another TS-453 Pro brought back to life with 100Ohm resistor.
Does anyone have this device with the solution applied for a long time and the device is still working?
Can you somehow predict when the device will stop working completely?

I wonder if it's better to sell the device and buy a completely new one, or stay with TS-453Pro.

I have the same problem - TS-453 Pro stuck on "SYSTEM BOOTING".
I checked the signals on the motherboard and below are the results.

Signal between LCLK (red 1) and GND (red 2):

Vmax = 0.422 V, Vmin = -0.522 V, Vpp = 0.944 V

Signal between LCLK (red 1) and +3V3 (red 3):

Vmax = 3.817 V, Vmin = 2.792 V, Vpp = 1.024 V

At this point I'm not sure if I should connect the 100 Ohm resistor to GND or to +3V3. Could someone help me with this issue?

P.S.
I used this video for pins reference. If they are different in 453 Pro, let me know.

I can't edit my previous post, so I'll just say that soldering the 100 Ohm resistor between LCLK and GND solved the issue for me.

Thanks to this thread and the screenshots posted, I was able to revive my TS-453 Mini with the 100ohm resistor and it came back to life almost instantly!

Thank you @yujungchang for the research and solution. I have a TS-453pro with the "System Booting" issue. Initially tried the 100 ohm resistor and didn't make a difference, then added a 330 ohm resistor in parallel that dropped it to 92 ohms. That made it come back to life. For those few that the 100 ohm resistor didn't work, don't give up! Add another resistor to it, it's bricked otherwise.

Problems started with FAN fault beeping resulting to a bootloop.

I have the same problem on a TS-453 Pro stuck on "SYSTEM BOOTING".

I don't have a scope to see LCLK signal. I mesure 0.8V between LCLK and GND at cold start, and it rises up to 1.1V after 10mn.
I've tried 100ohm resistor between 3.3V and LCLK witout success.

Is it possible that i can't temporary repair it ? What is the normal voltage between LCLK and GND ?

Hi dolbyman and thanks for your reply. I red all the pages you link to, but i'm not sure to understand.

The target value is 1.7V for PIN1 (it's a square signal between 3.3V and 0V), so at 25Mhz my multimeter will see 1,7V.

I mesure 0.84V on PIN 1, so i have to pull it UP with a resistor between 3.3V and PIN 1. The sweet spot seam to be with 350 ohms, it gives 1.7V. But still no boot.


Here are all the tests i made. If someone got the same problem (fix not working or slightly different from the "100 ohms") can you please explain to me ?

Only LAN led (orange)

Without resistor / voltage to GND:
PIN 1: 0.84V
PIN 2,3,4,5,6,7,9 : 3.34V
PIN: 8 & 10: GND


100ohms between PIN 1 and PIN 6 (3.3v):
2.84V on PIN 1
USB Led blue and 4 HDD led red

200 ohm
1.95V PIN 1
USB Led blue and 4 HDD led red

320ohms
1.76V PIN 1
No led, no HDMI output

350ohms
1.70V PIN 1
No led, no HDMI output

After all the tests (30mn):
Without resistor
1.39V PIN 1
No led / no HDMI output

There're lots of posts on this topic, but you probably should read them all if you really want to fix yours. As a pointer, others has reported the same issue as yours and was able to revive the system with lowering down the voltage of the clock further. My guess is that the low of the clock is much higher for those systems. By pulling down further, that makes the low of the LPC clock recognizable by the system again.

Btw - Got 0.9v at 1st pin, but still add 100ohm between 1 and 10 and it worked, probably no need to look for 3.3v

Yesterday my ts-453 pro got stuck on "SYSTEM BOOTING" for the first time.
I checked the voltage on pin1, and it was 2.4V.
I soldered a 100 ohm resistor, got a measurement of 1.5V.
Still stuck on "SYSTEM BOOTING".
Tried 170 ohm, (100ohm and 2*36ohm in series) got a measurement of 1.8V. still stuck on "SYSTEM BOOTING".
Tried 135ohm, got a measurement of 1.7V, but still no beep.
Removed the 100ohm, so left with the 2*36ohm in series. Got a measurement of 1.3V.
Turned on the NAS, and after 10 seconds heard the beep. still saw "SYSTEM BOOTING", for about 30 minutes.
Added the 100ohm again, no beep.
Removed the 100ohm, and this time the NAS booted, and is active on the network.
So some how, for me a 72ohm resistor (Which gives only 1.3V) did the trick.
The strange thing is the NAS still display "SYSTEM BOOTING", the HDD leds are ON constantly, not blinking when active.
I only have the 100 and 36 ohms resistors, so I can't keep playing with different values.

Can anyone help me?
I have a TS-251 which does not boot anymore.
How can I check and see if it is the failed fan notice?
When I connected it to a television, I did not see anything.
Is there a way to see if the hd's are ok, and if I buy a new ts-251 it will work again?
Or will the 1-8 pin fix always fix all the problems?
I tried to search this topic, but do you have a link to a picture showing the 1-8 pin fix?
Should HDMi output show something?

Try it .. no guarantees but the couple of cents for the parts involved, will beat the price of a new NAS for sure.. the rest of your questions has been discussed looots of times (NAS migration,etc)
