in regards to home assistant, once you set that up and connect it to your iot device, there will be a link to the device within the homeassistant web interface.

they also have a mobile app (i checked for android). So that mobile app could add an icon onto your mobile android device, easy peasy.

but for windows desktop, i suspect it would be similar to the method i mentioned earlier about adding shortcuts, that is my assumption.

one change to this guide

before i suggested creating docker apps in a location like /share/Container/jellyfin

but i don't think this is a good idea. Instead based on Drauku's suggestion, we create a dockeruser (in a dockerusergroup as well), then we create a share for this user e.g. lets call it docker. then we would point persistent storage for docker apps to there e.g. /share/docker/jellyfin

reason for this is because Container is tied to container station.

so this is the part to consider before setting up any docker apps.

Agree with this. I was following guide from LinuxServer.io and it was suggested the same here: https://www.linuxserver.io/blog/2017-09 ... rs-on-qnap

good share :D

on discord we had a discussion on this among the community there. why just keeping the docker on the default container share might not be the best idea. the concern was if u uninstalled container station, that may accidentally wipe stuff located in that area.

i don't recall 100% but when i previously did this, the sub folders i used for my dockers (e.g. Container/jellyfin )still remained although i deleted cs and reinstalled it. but since i don't fully recollect if that really happened, i can't say this for sure. but this was the concern others highlighted as why not to just re-use the default Container share created by container station for use of your own self installed docker apps (for saving a your docker configs permanently).

also the other reason was the security aspect. they wanted to ensure those shares for docker use, is owned by a non admin account (hence docker user. also in a NON admin group e.g. dockergroup. So not only the username but also the usegroup as well needs to be non admin).
