Goodmorning, my old QNAP 4 bay NAS is failing (main fan decided to quit) and consequently produces OH warnings.
Not having too much time to figure out the QNAP model numbering protocol I jumped the gun and i have ordered a qnap tbs-464-8g
The tasks it will do are mainly making laptop backups, cctv recordings. So nothing outrageous.
My plan is to buy 2 x 2TV SSD's for the laptop backups and connect an external HHD for the CCTV recordings.
This is where i run into :
The qnap tbs-464-8g spec sheet mentions it takes 4 x "M.2 2280 NVMe Gen3 x2" SSD's, but it states nowhere what is the maximum length.
Will 80mm fit like the Samsung 980 PRO NVMe ?
Then, for the CCTV recordings I don't want to spend 300 euro's on 2 x 2TB's, but instead use a cheap external 2TB HDD over USB3.
qnap tbs-464-8g..new !

Did you check the compatibility list on QNAP website?

Good catch @dm, I hadn't noticed QNAP started doing this.

yeah that is very unfortunate of QNAP to start this (4GB variant is socketed and 8GB variant is BGA).. it might save them pennies on the BOM .. but will surely p*ss of customers
