Even though I never had a problem I needed to seek Patrick's help for I always read through any thread that he posted help to in a effort to learn something. Most of the help he posted was over my head and way beyond my pay grade, but somehow I understood what he was saying. A rare gift, Patrick you are missed.

I'm saddened to read the news of Patrick's passing. The amount of time and effort he put into helping people (even if he could be a bit more direct at times than some cared for) should be an example to all of us.

I shall miss reading you Patrick.

I'm very much a newbie here, but Patrick helped me several times in my short stay here. From choosing the right hardware to resolving issues. This is shocking and very sad indeed. Rest in peace, Patrick.

Best Regards,

Dan.

I will truly miss his technical knowledge as well as that unique personality and wit. I still find myself thinking "what would Patrick say?" to many of the new questions reported here. Very sad :(

It's bad news for the community as he spends a lot of personal time in contribution. I thank him personally. May him R.I.P. and my condolences to his family.

A man who was straight to the point and took no nonsense. This was part of the reason many of us appreciated him.
An outstanding contributor who helped anyone who asked. He will be sorely missed. Condolences to his family and friends.

Hi, I'm Patrick's son, Matt. I just wanted to thank everyone for their condolences. I'm glad to see my dad made a difference to so many people. He was a good man and he'll be missed.

Thanks,
I know what is is when a parent passes away.
I already lost my 2 parents. My mother in 2011, and my father in 1997.

Goodluck with everything.

Blessings.

I have just joined this community after having made my first NAS purchase, and having read through many, many, threads to aid in my understanding and getting to know this technology. Nearly every single thread that I found helpful, was thanks to Patrick. Having finally joined, I was very much looking forward to interacting with Patrick - after seeing his legendary level of knowledge and involvement.

RIP good sir. Thank you for your generously shared time, and for contributing so greatly, that you continue to help those of us who found you even after you had passed.
