HI all , just having a little fun with my TS-653a .
Had a fun the last week play a huge shell game !! , started with a single 3gb disk until my 3 x 8gb disks came in the post
started by raid 1-ing my 3gb disk with a 8gb disk , replacing the 3gb disk with a 8gb disk , and expanding , AND all went well !!
Now tried adding a extra disk converted to raid 5 ... Now 48 hours later and only 47%.1 unto the migration , NOW THE FUN tried removing the network cable and tried set up trunking on my switch !!!!
BAD BAD BAD idea it said "please wait I am now closing down" and it rebooted , BUT looks like all is still well with the migration.
By the way I did back up any data I can`t get back 3gb worth, but to a second volume on the nas , stupid idea !!!

Well the simple elaborate is !!! Don't pull out the network cable when you are 48 hours or 47% into a migration or it will shut down .
But hopefully all is o.k , I will know if that is true in another 48 hours time, and don't backup to a second volume in the nas I guess.

ya backups ahould be done to an external drive/destination for sure
not sure how a network disconnect would force a shutdown

Well the good new is that the migration finished and looks to be fine.
47% in 48 hours and the other 53% in less than 12 hours that's logic for you.
