Say goodbye to the simplicity of the Google homepage: the company will be taking a page out of their feed on Android by introducing cards that will feature content ranging from sports highlights and top news to engaging videos and new music. The feed will not only be based on your interactions with Google, but also factor in what’s trending in your area and around the world.
The feed of personalized information, which has been a mainstay of Google’s mobile apps for Android and iOS since 2012 along with a home-screen page on Google’s Nexus and Pixel smartphones and tablets, will become part of the main desktop experience in the near future, the Guardian understands. On Wednesday Google announced it was deploying further customization to the feed, which took over from its Google Now personalization in December, using the company’s "advanced machine-learning algorithms."
since every1 uses google for the searching qnap issues, thought you should know
i strongly recommend when that does roll out, you head straight to the settings and opt out to exclude your sensitive searches from popping out via those cards

Google Denies Claims Of A Homepage Revamp
Yesterday in a report from The Guardian claimed that Google would be changing it's stark white page to a "news feed". ARS Technica reached out to google, that deny the site is getting a revamp. The original report uses quotes and images from Google's July 19th blog post about news feed upgrades, but Google's post was only speaking about the mobile site and apps.
We reported on the original story yesterday, and wanted to be sure to post the clarification. Good news for those of us who don't want bloat. I did like iGoogle though.
Thanks for reaching out. Confirming that later this year, we hope to roll some version of the feed experience to Google.com on the mobile web. However, the design and functionality are still completely unconfirmed as this is still in testing phases.
To be clear, we have no plans for desktop.
