anyway i'm approaching this from a budget media user perspective. I'm sure enterprise users have a much higher budget to go for more impressive network setups than what this thread is about

requirements for a 10gbe network setup
- router? (nope cause 10gbe not gonna mean much for internet speed atm for most people)
- switch (yep definitely. The one in the video is a ASUS XG-U2008 which only has 2 x 10gbe ports. For me thats probably enough for NAS to NAS backup, but it doesn't leave a 3rd 10gbe port to go to my Desktop ....)
- desktop (i download stuff to my desktop ,record my OBS streams, rip my optical discs here so yes i'd want to have 10gbe from desktop to NAS for sure. Only 2 ways of doing this. Motherboard has 10gbe ports by default, or you install a 10gbe PCIE addon card)

The results here were great. Running the exact same tests as above, I was averaging 150MB/second copying a large file to the TS-831X, and a staggering 211MB/second copying a single large file off of the TS-831X. With an array of SSD drives, this performance would probably be even higher.So i decided to put inside 4X OCZ AMD Radeon R7 (240GB) SSD's that connected by Raid 5.
The results speak for themselves.

Asrock motherboards (i saw they did this for Intel I9 and Amd Thread ripper with 10GBE (their using Aquantia AQC107). Both asus and asrock are brands i'm aware that are trying to add 10gbe onto some of their motherboards, so keep an eye on those

lastly why 10gbe?
10G networking most the time is more for load balancing so you can have more users connected at once with no slowdown try on a 1G connection to copy large file then try and stream a high qulity 1080p back from the same server you are copying to and you video stream will suffer but if you have a 10G backbone (10G from Managed Switch to Server)
minimum throughput when doing network activity would be better too, as the network is more than capable of handling the load.
*refer to the 10GBE benchmark for QNAP TS-831X above. Probably need a different benchmark using more newer high end HDD but this gives you a rough idea of what to expect, though this seems difficult to find for latest models as not many reviewers have 10gbe networking gear (cept people like techquickie)..soo..Well... The whole point of having a 10 Gigabit network is for people who are going to be transferring data from solid state drives to other solid state drives. That or a very very substantial RAID array. This should all go without saying. Of course you can't saturate a 10 gigabit line from a single mechanical drive to an SSD.
Anyway just as reference, my 1gbe network caps me out at around 110-120 MB/s (cap for 1gbe basically) when i backup from a TS-653A to TS-659 Pro II using hybrid backup sync RTRR one way sync to remote destination folder to folder.
