Introduction to the TS-x73 series

*notes: due to the similar naming for the x73 series, it deserved it's own article pointing out the differences.

Re: [Megathread] Moogle's QNAP FAQ help V2
Did some updates (which is pointed out in the changelog on page1/2) notably updating recommendation to ts-x73 as a baseline for plex transcoding. to me the baseline ought to be able to transcode 1080p even at high bit rate and it just works, no issues. I haven't had much experience for content beyond 1080p resolution, so no comment on that :}
also qnap finally added their own 10gbe switch.

Qfiling 2.0 walkthrough

Personally, how i use Qfilling is to mass delete files. For example.... i would first use Qsirch to search around for junk files on my QNAP. Then i will take note of the filenames, and maybe locations as well, i add to notepad. Then i go to Qfilling, add a rule to mass delete all the matches for those filenames/filetypes i identified as junk e.g. thumbnails ...etc
Another use, that i hadn't really made use of much, is auto sorting content. For example.... you have transmission torrent client setup to download stuff. Then you can also schedule qfilling to auto sort the download location for the torrent files, and it will sort accordingly based on the rules you set. Saves you the trouble of manually sorting yourself.

Why Buy a 1-Bay NAS - Advantages and Disadvantages

My own personal opinion, 1bay is usually fine for some who does not use much storage, and wants to go with the cheapest option. I still recommend a 2bay model as the very bare minimum, and run it in raid1.
A step up from that would be a 3bay model like the TS-328a which can do raid5 using 3hdds.
and above that is a TS-x73 or a TS-x53be series for 4bay hdd or more.
There are many more models beyond this....
*please note that these recommendations can get outdated. Is only relevant as of 17.5.2018 when it was posted
