And now it's telling me that an update is available: 4.3.6.0760 build 20181114. I guess the previous update didn't happen.
I'm not updating it. Period.

mine just bricked as well. it is stuck on system booting... I have tried doing a reset and booting with no drives but it is still stuck on system booting and does not get passed it... Qnap support was no help at all. they said - buy a new model. that was their answer. They told me to try firmware recovery but I mentioned I did not see the exact model TS-453-PRO on the firmware recovery guide - so then the tech said oh sorry I guess you can't - buy a new one........

alias71 wrote: Sat Sep 16, 2017 8:50 am I am able consistently to fix the problem doing this:
1 - Force power off the NAS pressing the power button for 10 secs
2 - Remove the hard drives (remembering the order)
3 - Power on the NAS
4 - This time, without hard drives, the NAS starts. Interestingly, no error is logged.
5 - Power off the NAS normally
6 - Reinsert the hard drives preserving the order
7 - Power on the NAS
8 - The NAS starts and all the data is accessible.
Thanks!
Just had this on my TVS-463 this morning when I moved the NAS slightly. The Power Cable in the back dislodged itself. I rebooted the NAS but had the dreaded "system booting" message onscreen. followed your instructions and the NAS is backup and running. just doing a Check File System now.

Thanks!
Regards Simon

Somehow my system bricked over night after a firmware update yesterday (TS-453pro), started with a "System Fan 1 failed" error even though the fan was spinning. I powered the system off gracefully and now stuck on System Booting. Using the procedure with powering the system back on with no drives, how long would you need to wait before you hear a beep? Its been going 10 minutes and nothing.

I had to hit the reset button on the back, now i get the first beep, hdmi output works but system was complaining no HDDs in the system to continue. Powered off the system through QNAP finder then inserted drives and powered on. After about 7 minutes, screen loads that wants to install hybriddesk station. I cancelled and only way to proceed was through CLI (alt f2 I believe). Good thing is my data is still intact (/share/cachedev1_data mounts) and I can see my files. Two of the three HDD lights are solid red but all HDDs mount. System never gets past “system booting”. What to do from here?

Can I do this with the drives plugged in? I’m worried about preserving my data.

I went ahead and backed up to an external drive. Data preserved now. Worked with QNAP support and they gave up after the firmware update, said they would need to do out of warranty replacement which was more than I paid for the unit. Kinda useless. Anyway, I got a segmentation fault when doing the fw update. I even tried swapping out the memory as I read that could be an issue, but same problem. Here's the output of the fw upgrade.
