Just for the record, 100 Ohms resistor trick "fixed" my Qnap TS-251 from 2015. Thanks for the hard work guys.

meerkat00 wrote: Wed Jan 13, 2021 2:51 pm Wow - the 100 ohm resistor fix worked perfectly on my 5 year old 2 bay TS-251! Thanks all!

I want to replace it anyway, as I now don't trust it. But all the similar home models still use Atom or Celeron processors. Will they end up with the same failure eventually?

A $300-$400 NAS should last longer than 5 years. I checked Synology NAS's too, and it's the same with them (Atom & Celeron cpus).

I'm not willing to shut mine off when not in use, as it would be too much trouble to boot it up every time I wanted to use it, and it takes way too long.
I am in the same situation as you.
And there is for example the synology ds1621+ which is animated by a ryzen, if intel scares you.

Nice! That would be overkill for my needs though.

I am in the same situation:
TS 653 Pro - I have ordered the resistor and hoping this will fix the issue
I also have a TS 451 - does anyone know if it may also have the issue

If i had to get another QNAP what models would be ok to get?

thank you in advance

@dolbyman thanks for your response. So in the end I will have two QNAPS with potential of failure. I am surprised no one launches a lawsuit against QNAP so we can all get some credit for all the money that was spent on these duds.

This isn't just a Qnap issue. Any vendor that used the C2000 processor with this flaw would have/had this problem. It was fixed in later steppings.
This was an industry wide problem. Popular low power processor.

Hello everyone and congratulations on the forum.
Can this also be done with a TS-453Mini?
Thanks

Hiya, just adding that the bug also affects the IS-453S which has an E3845 CPU. Similar failure scenario, sudden failure with no POST and as others have linked to the site with this CPU issue https://www.servethehome.com/another-at ... vli89-bug/

Part of me wonders if this issue is why many NAS devices have had random crashes over the years. It has been about a month and no issues on my new NAS, even though the drives, data, and apps are the same (upgraded admittedly). But I was upgrading that NAS QTS for years.
