New here and a problem

Post by ajnabi1957 »

Hi,
I'm new to the world of NAS and QNAP.
I have a TS 251+ which I've set up and been able to transfer all my music (700GB) and photos (500GB) without a problem.
It was running well, and I was playing my music through SONOS via Plex.
I use a MAC iMac OS10.12.6 (Sierra)
This morning after restarting my computer which I do every couple of days or so, I get an error message saying:
This site can’t be reached

192.168.0.9 refused to connect.
Search Google for 192 168 8080 redirect
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I've restarted the computer and modem. I've restarted the NAS, reset the NAS and checked all the cables. everything is brand new and properly connected.
Still getting the message. There seems to be a problem with this with others who have updated their firmware. I'm not sure I've done that and if so it was probably automatically done by QNAP.
I have not done it myself.

So any help and advise would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

The NAS does not automatically update the firmware. Updates must be initiated by the admin. Can you find the NAS with qfinder?
Use the forum search feature before posting.

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

If you are using DHCP on your Router to get your NAS IP, you should be able to look at your router DHCP list to see what IP was assigned to your QNAP.

Do you have more than 1 NW cabled connected on your QNAP? If not, have you tried switching the NW cable on your QNAP to the other NW port?
