nocd' sortmyqpkg addon could it also be related? i thought his addon is supposed to optimize the boot up sequence for the apps. maybe it's not optimized yet for 4.4.1? this was my first suspicion :'

SortMyQPKGs is an automatic sorter for installed QPKGs to ensure they launch in a preset sequence when your NAS next boots-up.

There are a few known packages that need to launch sequentially (example: Qmono before QSonarr) but due to flaws in QNAP's package registration process, this may not occur.

This package will ensure the launch-order of these QPKGs is corrected automatically.

2nd issue re:gateway, no idea. I believe I have mine hard coded to my port-trunk, so might be a bug related to auto setting.
i'll check during the next reboot to see if it happens again or not. the internet is working on the qnap so.... it's not that big a deal to me atm.

*update

yes on another reboot, same thing occured.

To clarify: SortMyQPKGs only affects specific packages previously identified as requiring sequential start.

If Qumagie (or core) needs to launch in an ordered manner relative to other QPKGs, please test and advise where it should be loaded so I can update SortMyQPKGs. :geek:

i'd be most interested in how fast you can do thumbnail regeneration.

mine seems awfully slow.... it's definitely making thumbnails but at a slow crawl

They released the qts 4.4.1 preview youtube explanation video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl_ulF5Lm14

apparently photostation will be phased out by the end of this year. so qumagie was just the tip of the iceberg so to speak .... hmm :'

interestingly when asked if qumagie is the photostation replacement it was said "they are 2 independent applications". so it's probably gonna be photostation 2.0 or some new rebranded version of it but revamped from ground up?

yeh that was pretty funny  there was also a mic incident near the end.

By the way the biggest bug i've seen in qts 4.4.1 is probably thumbnail generation. a few issues....

1. it's incredibly slow....
2. qumagie does not detect enough pics. i have a lot more, yet the facial tagging for people results is very few :S
3. thumbnail generation for me reached a point where it got stuck on the same image shown in task status for a couple of hours, and didn't seem like any new thumbnails were being generated. so i end up pausing, tried to resume it refuses. restarted qnap tried resume, now it says completed. so i change from manual to real time, then added new stuff to the NAS, it begins to create thumbnails, yet i see a 15,000 files pending as well (basically the number before i paused the first time). So there is a backlog of thumbnails to be created yet it said earlier completed.... definitely something dodgy going on.

There are a lot of issue with multimedia console/scanning. I am trying to figure how to resolve some of them.

good :)

uh... oo no... biggest problem that happened to me so far. a hdd got disconnected. (i had yesterday changed raid priority to service, i wonder if that had anything to do with it? i did that cauz i thought it may help speed up thumbnail generation perhaps at the time)

anyway this issue occured while i was transfering multiple folders of a dozen of videos in each folder. total content size around 90gb or so :'

Image

this could just simply be my own hdd issue, rather than a qts 4.4.1 issue mind.

and now it's rebuilding sync. i'm a bit worried because i still have the data transfer going on in the background but it's not like i can just simply cancel it (i used a cut vs copy action :S )

Never had any issues like that on mine. Due to hung process during a shutdown, I had to kick the box which cause a raid resync. I changed priorities a couple times and no HDD disconnect, so likely a HDD issue on your side, don't think a 4.4.1 issue (at least that I found on my box).

i think it was the same hdd that also dropped last time and you mentioned how sometimes the system could cause a false reading. so it could be the hdd, not sure. i'll run some checks later :'

anyway so raid rebuild was slow, and my data transfer completed, so i went to storage change raid sync priority to max. raid resync completed very fast.

now gonna run a hdd check  checklist

1. rapid smart test
2. long smart test
3. scan disk
4. check file system

Here is what I put in mine for the Kingston HyperX part #

Stay with the 2666 speed (or even slightly faster if cheaper).
