McAfee and ClamAV engines are End of Life.

Post by Toxic17 » Wed Aug 14, 2019 1:58 am

Just wanted to inform the users on this board that if you use either McAfee or ClamAV Antivirus Packages, the AV engines are both End Of Life.

At time of post McAfee QPKG v2.2.1 is the latest from QNAP. however the engine used to carryout the scanning process is version 5900

Engine version: 5900.7806 (64bit)

McAfee has already Stated this is End of life and should be upgraded to either 6000 or 6x00 (supporting Kernel 4.4 as well - QTS 4.4.x)
https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?p ... id=KB89069

ClamAV also has an out of date engine.

Code: Select all

[~] # /usr/local/bin/freshclam --debug --show-progress -u admin
ClamAV update process started at Tue Aug 13 18:51:49 2019
WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED!
WARNING: Local version: 0.99.3 Recommended version: 0.101.3
DON'T PANIC! Read http://www.clamav.net/documents/upgrading-clamav
main.cvd is up to date (version: 58, sigs: 4566249, f-level: 60, builder: sigmgr)
daily.cvd is up to date (version: 25540, sigs: 1713558, f-level: 63, builder: raynman)
bytecode.cvd is up to date (version: 330, sigs: 94, f-level: 63, builder: neo)
WARNING: Local version: 0.99.3 Recommended version: 0.101.3

0.99.3 was Jan 2018 and the above message is actually from ClamAV themselves.

I have raised a ticket with QNAP about a year ago and have done another one today. Why? simply it appears 1 ticket seems to fall on deaf ears. You could also do the same to raise some more awareness.
Regards Simon

I am running Clamav, are you saying that it can no longer be updated?
I have just tried to update via the link provided (Update file at: www.clamav.net) but cannot find a .CVD file, any suggestions?
