hello yujungchang,
thanks for the reply.
The component is pic16f722a.
is it the TPM?
If it's the TPM you're talking about, where can I solder the resistor?

Not a TPM, looks like a microcontroller, maybe for the build-in SATA backplane?
You'll have to do it the hard way then.
Find a very thin wire (or break it out from a multi stranded wire) and/or use a tiny SMD resistor to solder to the SIO legs
,unless you can find a via/test point for the LPC CLK or a SMD component that it connects to.

for me it's impossible :(
I saw that on the back of the motherboard there is a "Debugcn1" connector with 9 pins.
Could this be it?

I don't know, but less likely.

I think the easiest way is to super glue the regular resistor (with both legs cut to minimum) on top of your SIO edge and solder the thin wires from the the resistor legs to the SIO legs.
Alternatively solder the SMD resistor vertically on one leg and bring a thin wire from the other side of the resistor to the other leg.
Or a real tiny SMD resistor, soldered across the 2 legs directly (only for the 3.3V pull up case).
You can also get a cheap usb microscope like the one below to help you see better.

Example of a cheap $10~15 USB microscope on the Ebay/Amazon/Aliexpress
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D7DCQ9W

A nice stand from the Thingiverse if you have a 3D printer, otherwise the one included should work fine (probably need to tape it down).

hello, I tried all the ways you suggested.
I also bought the microscope but I can't.
Is there no other way?

Sorry, no other way. You just have to be patient and spend time trying it, or find someone local that can help you.
Just FYI, these might help you and flux might be important to use

I have TS-453b (not PRO),just red blinking, not passing the POS, no beep, no display.
Could it be affected by the CLK issue and fixed with the resistor? The LPC_CN1 connector seems to be different.

It looks like the same connector, so measure on the pin 1 first as I described earlier.

There are no clock signals on any of the connector pins (should be around 25Mhz).
There is a chip IT8528E nearby which should have PCICLK on pin 13 according to datasheet, but there's no signal too. So probably the main processor is dead.

I don't expect the LPC and pinout changes between a similar design, so that LPC CN1(pin 1 as LPC CLK) is most likely the same. It could be one of the 2 cases below,
1) the SIO does not power up the system at all, due to some errors(probably not the LPC issue)
2) the system does power up for a very brief moment, but immediately powers back down, due to the LPC error

In these cases, when you look at the signal is important as it determines what you can get from the scope.
My question would be did you set up a trigger(on pin 1) with the power cord disconnected and then see if it triggers after 1) plug in the power cord 2) push the power button?
Or did you just run it continuously and look at the scope after the system is power on/blinking the red LED?
In the #2 case listed above, I would expect no clock signal on the scope(if a trigger is not been used), even though there might be a brief moment that has the clock.

The easiest way is just to solder the pin 1 blindly with a 80~100 Ohm to either ground(for most Qnap cases) or 3.3V(for Synology cases and very few Qnap cases) and see if any of that help. Otherwise, if this is not a LPC related failure, it will be a long debug to find out why the system does not power up.

Also the IT8528E datasheet isn't available on the internet, so can't tell exactly what is available.
However I saw there's a power up sequence diagram for the IT8772E and the main signals shouldn't be off too much from yours ... if you want to go deeper.

yujungchang, I found a technician who was able to solder the resistance as you told me, but the situation has not changed.
What can I do?

It could be that you connect the other side of the resistor to a wrong pin (3.3V), instead of the GND. Most of us have the failures that need to connect the other side of the resistor to GND, but it seems it is connected to a 3.3V pin in your picture. Have you measure the voltage prior to connect that to the 3.3V next to it? If you need to solder to a ground, it can be any nearby ground(screw holes, capacitors, etc) and it does not require more micro soldering(like to pin 20). Also if that technician has the access to a scope, you should confirm if that is actually a LPC CLK failure and not something else.

If he does not have a scope, what is the voltage level(from a multimeter) on the LPC CLK "prior" to the rework? There're 2 failing modes as I described earlier and you should confirm before the rework. If the LPC CLK is measured > 2V, then the ground is where it should be connected to. Otherwise if it is measured < 1V, it should be the 3.3V as the way it is connected right now.

If you have not done any measurement, then you'll have to disconnect the resistor to the 3.3V and measure from the LPC CLK side without redo all the soldering. If indeed you need to connect to the ground, then you just need to solder one more time and no more micro soldering is needed. If the voltage/3.3V vs GND are all checked out and you have confirmed the LPC CLK is degraded, then the only thing you can try is to lower the resistor value to 80~85 Ohm (or even lower, but no one has tried). Beyond that, if this is not a simple LPC degradation issue, then it will be a long debug to figure out what went wrong and you'll have to send it to a professional board repair shop.

Thx for sharing yujungchang. Fix worked on ts-251 first time around.
I wonder if it was a firmware update on the TS that broke something. Anyways the 100ohm fixed it.
