@jeerima:
i have posted a diagram to help to identifiy the correct Pins onto the resistor should be soldered: https://www.threshold-lovers.com/downlo ... -everyone/
and I have posted a Youtube video showing how to install the resistor on a NSR/Dupont connector, so no need to extract the motherboard !
Here is the Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNKN55SFYos
Hope this helps...

Does any of you know how long the NAS will continue to work properly after this fix ??
A lot of persons have the same question...

can do for days ..can do for months
see it as a temp fix..nobody knows (as it's different for each unit)
be prepared for it to stop working at any moment

OK dolbyman : I am backuping all my data and I study the ordering of a new 8 disks NAS (QNAP TS-873A or Synology DS1821+).
Not yet decided, but it should be in my home around mid-May, so no problem: the TS-851 will not be use for a long time.
The hardware is still good: do you know if somebody has already tried to change the motherboard for another "similar" one ??
I suspect that a "similar" motherboard is not costly nowdays, and this might be a solution to continue to use the hardware...

Re: [How To] Recover no beep / dead Intel based Qnap x53/x51 (2014~2016?)
the qnap mainboards are purpose build..so you will not find a simmilar one that will fit...also qts will probably seize to work on it (if anything else than a qnap 851 mainboard is used)
so keep it around as a backup unit ...maybe for months ..maybe for years

I see...the qnap mainboards are purpose build..
I feel not safe with a backup nit that I cannot trust 100%...so keep it around as a backup unit ...maybe for months ..maybe for years
Maybe if I let it ON all the time, I will see if it stops running ...

well..it's just a backup...would only come into play if your main storage needs rebuild

Re: [How To] Recover no beep / dead Intel based Qnap x53/x51 (2014~2016?)
Of course I agree, but it would require additional disks for the main storage ...
The main storage will be (very soon) undertaken by a new TS-873A that will receive the disks currently used in the TS-851.
I would like to find cheap "repackaged" disks (I don't know the exact English word, repaired ?) to feed the TS-851 and use it a backup device: Raid-5 would be enough in that case, instead of Raid-6 actually.
But I have to find a website to buy these cheap disks... (I am going to ask the question on a French forum)

The solution based on a 100 ohm resistor solves the problems in almost all cases...

Works like a charm.
Thank you, yujungchang
Btw - Got 0.9v at 1st pin, but still add 100ohm between 1 and 10 and it worked, probably no need to look for 3.3v

Thank you @yujungchang,
I managed to get my TS-451 back to life!

That doesn't make sense. If your measurement was correct, you are essentially lowering the clock signal further down and the LPC probably should not be working at all. But if it works for you, it works.

Hi yujungchang,
I have another problem.
A friend of mine has a TS-253 Pro and all three usb ports have stopped working.
The rest works.
Could it always be a CPU problem?
