Now my Qnap TS-453 mini works perfectly thanks to you.
A friend of mine has a TVS-463 with the same problem. (System botting >>>).
Do you think it's possible to fix it?
I have seen that he has an AMD G-series GX-424CC CPU.
can it work?
Pesca, can you tell me where you installed the resistor? My 453 mini is currently a doorstop.

I just want to chime in and say my TS-451+ entered the first stages of this on April 2nd.
Lights almost exactly like kirovoleg, status led off, blinking LAN, USB blue, HDD1 red, HDD2 green, HDD3 red, and HDD4 off with all four drives in.

First sign was a system fan 1 failed warning that was updated 90 seconds later with another message saying the fan was operational. So I thought nothing of it and shut it down a few hours later so that I could blow some compressed air and take out the drives. On restart is when it started not detecting bays 3 and 4. Since then I would say half of the time the NAS will not power off correctly on shutdown, I've had to hold the power down for it to turn off. I tried a new fan yesterday and before that rolled back the firmware a month and it did not make a difference, that's when I started researching and found this thread. Thank you yuhungchang!

QNAP went into my NAS through helpdesk a little while ago because I had opened up a ticket before finding this thread, and now I figured why not let them document confirmation that they have a PR problem on their hands thanks to Intel.

Hopefully, I will have the resistor in tomorrow and can chime back in that my poor NAS is operational enough for me to try to live off of until QNAP has a sale or sends us emails offering a hush discount... ;-)

Success with the 100 ohms resistor, my TS-451+ is alive again!

I'm rebuilding the RAID6 set, and immediately after I'm backing up my data to a USB drive that came in today. The CPU fan and temperature are also registering correctly again.

Not sure how long it will work like this, hopefully, it will not blow up on me during a business trip.

Thanks, another fixed TS651. I am so bad at soldering I canabalized a plugged connector to solder to that rather than risking dropping solder on the board. Cheers

Same here, just fixed my TS-251 yesterday with less than 20 cents. Special thanks to yujungchang!

The resistor hack worked for my TS-851 also!

No soldering required either, I crimped a female Dupont pin to each leg of a 100ohm metal film resistor and used a 5x2 Dupont connector. So if I need to change resistor values I don't even need to dismount the motherboard -- just remove the lid, unplug the Dupont connector and replace the resistor.

Thanks for the tip!

Hi pitcritte,
I soldered the resistor between the PCLCLK of the F71869A and a ground screw attachment.
Very difficult. I found a capable technician

hi Yujungchang,
a question.
Is the problem solved if I replace the Fintek F71869A?

No, the problem is with the CPU, not the Fintek

I think CPU replacement is unlikely for a few simple reasons. You will need to desolder the BGA package and then reflow a new CPU which comes with its own risks. You can't replace with a different CPU unless it was pin compatible and supported in the BIOS. The one option if soldering was not a barrier is finding a J1800/1900 stepping that is known to have the LPC fixed in hardware.

I also just found my 2016 TS-251+ dead on my desk with full speed fan and just status light blinking in sync with Ethernet. Has anyone confirmed if newer TS-x51/53 (post 2016) uses a new stepping without this issue? I'm a bit confused that the J1800 is still used unless the issue has been resolved in hardware.

Can anyone suggest where to buy the resistors to fix this issue. I have a TS-251 with no status light, blinking LAN, blue USB and red HDD1 and HDD2, no beeps. Was told by QNAP my device is defective. I live near Richmond, VA. Thanks!

You can search "100 Ohm resistor" on both Amazon and Ebay, they will come in packs for $3-6. But the only suggestion for local source might be to find a hacker space near your and contact someone there.

Do you mind posting a pic? I ran into the same issue and this would be great if no soldering is required
