VLAN setup on QNAP QHora-301W

Post by joshefin »

Is it possible to assign a device (IP camera), connected to a LAN port, to a VLAN?

Since the device does not know anything about VLANs, I think that "access mode" should be used in port configuration, but then there isn't an option to enter a VLAN ID.

Exactly, unfortunatelly LAN ports in Access Mode don't support VLANs (VLAN is supported only in trunced mode - with VLAN tags). Therefore You have to use a managed switch after the router to handle the situation.

Other possible solution can be if Your IP camera supports WiFi that You connect Your IP camera via WiFi. There are 3 Dual-Band Virtual APs. It means 6 pieces of bands and all of them can be connected to different VLANs - so theoretically 6 different VLANs can be handled via WiFi (plus one - the Guest WiFi but it is not interesting now).
